Such a slacker on updating!

So I placed 3rd in the 'William H. Ely Exhibition'! I was soo surprised and excited.

1st place winner was Jimmy Tierney, whose work gets more and more amazing all the time. He does a lot of really fantastic book covers and is a great designer.

2cd place winner was Kei Tawara, who has some really nice digital concept art.

And the other 3rd place winner was Dillon Shea, who was a big surprise but has some very interesting digital work.

There were also honorable mentions for : Elizabeth Hallman, April Read, Jet Landis and Sean Talamini.

I also wanted to plug Jess Adamentz because of the kind words she wrote about me on her blog. Her work is really fantastic and she's such a great painter. Her work is always very whimsical and fun.

Anyway! I have been doing fun fun revisions and here they are. Revisions always make things look better. = )

Wow this image sucks RGB and I am sorry for you. It was originally meant to be CMYK for printing. A two color print, yellow being the color of the paper. This piece is one of the turning points of my style..

I am so lagging in updating! No surprise. This revision was done like a month ago. I like it though I don't think it was like during my midterm critique. Essentially not unique enough I guess. Anyway.. poster for my favorite band! They are so awesome.

Halloween event poster for the costume ball that happens every year at the Brandywine River Museum. Had a lot of fun doing this piece, a few small revisions need to be done. = )

So I've completely done a 180 and changed my style! It's rather surprising but nice, and I like it. And generally it's liked by everyone so I think I'm finally going in the right direction..

A piece about my views on mortality. From death comes life, and from life comes death.

I also believe that the body returns to the world of dust and the soul progresses onward to God.

Last summer piece I wanna put up. Another other of my favorites, thats why it's the last.

One of my favorite bands! Though I didn't make this show. The letters are all handcut. It was a lot of fun to do.

This is a piece I did over the summer. One of my favorites still! Inspired by a good friend. A personal piece.

We were living just for the moment.

Surrounded by dawn and early morning chills.

In our hands we held the leftovers of night.

A night that even in its darkness,

everything burned bright.

Especially your eyes.

It’s like watching the sunrise every time I look into them,

breathtaking.

In your hands you hold a firefly, glistening gold.

They’re like stars among the earth.

We catch and hold them,

like times of childhood

when all that mattered was having a jar full.

When we were innocent and naïve

and didn’t know of how amazing it is to fall in love or

how painful it is to fall apart.

But none of that matters in this moment.

It’s you and me, surrounded by dawn and the stars on earth.

A glittering moon still holding it’s place in the sky

as if it were afraid of disappearing in the suns light.

Though, the moon absorbs the suns light and reflects it back.

That’s how we are.

Let’s hold onto this moment, as if our lives depended on it.

As if there could possibly be nothing better.

And when the sky reflects your eyes and we start to walk away from this dream,

I’ll know the moments over

but I can’t wait to taste and feel all those still meant to come.

Orange Juice!

Finished my faux ad for Orange Juice tonight! It's supposed to be a magazine ad. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I hope the crit goes well tomorrow. Yay for orange juice!

After a semester of finding my style and a summer of working out the kinks, I feel I can finally get underway. I want this blog to be a progress of my senior year at UArts and what happens beyond that.

With that said! Here's a piece I did over the summer as part of as assignment of 8 spot Illustrations.

It's a faux ad for Absolut Vodka. The idea of in an 'absolut' world you can do anything. Like make wings and fly.
